She was drinking tea.
There was a paper on the table.
It was a divorce paper.
She didn’t think I would leave.
She was waiting for me to beg.
“Are you sure?”
I read the paper.
She didn’t think I would divorce him.
The paper was not well written.
<
I took my paper.
I had my friend make it.
“I’m sure.”
She looked at the paper.
She didn’t know what to do.
“You already wanted to get divorced?”
I didn’t answer.
She took a drink.
She got calm.
“Does Brandon know?”
<
I think.
I shook my head.
“He doesn’t have to know.”
“Just need his mark on this paper.‘
I wanted to get a divorced, so I left
everything.
She was surprise.
She didn’t like me anyway.
She didn’t ask why I was leaving without
taking anything.
She nodded.
She was going to make Brandon sign it.
Now, I was free from Brandon.
I said goodbye.
I turned away.
She stopped me.
“Hold up.”
“There is one thing that needs to be talked
about.”
She looked at me.
She got serious.
“Your fault ”
く
“His grandma died.”
Chapter 2
Brandon was in the back of the car, trying to
sleep.
He’d had too much to drink at a business
dinner.
He told the driver to take him to the condo.
He knew Sarah would have hangover soup
waiting for him.
He was about to be disappointed.
He got home, but there were no lights on, no
soup.
Sarah wasn’t there to ask him how his night
Г
He frowned.
He remembered that he’d told her to go take
care of his mom.
He felt annoyed.
He’d just said it to be mean.
He didn’t think she’d actually go!
His mom would probably torture her.
He felt worried.
He pulled out his phone and called his mom.
“Mom, where is she?”

She was quiet for a second.
Then, she said, “Are you busy? Could you
come to the house?”
Brandon had a bad feeling.
He grabbed his keys and left.
He hadn’t stayed at the house since his
grandma died.
He’d never gone back at night.
His mom had a stack of papers in front of
her.
She looked mad.
L
Brandon didn’t care about that.
He looked around.
He didn’t see Sarah.
“Mom, where’s Sarah? Is she skipping out
again?”
He meant to say something caring.
It came out sharp.
He knew she was probably working
somewhere.
She might have heard him.
She’d be upset.
He bit his lip and looked around the house.
His mom liked to lock her in the storage
room.
She was probably in there now.
Brandon felt relieved.
He went back to being his usual self.
He sat on the couch and picked up the
papers.
His mom grabbed them before he could read
them.
“She left.”
“She left?”
Brandon looked at her.
His eye twitched.
“What do you mean, left? Did she piss you off
again?”
“Where is she? Bring her out here, I’ll take
care of her!”
He said that.
He wanted to see her.
He hadn’t wanted to see her so badly before.
Ever since Sarah said she wanted a divorce,
he felt weird.
Г
He’d been distracted all night.
He hated Sarah.
If she hadn’t let go of the wheelchair, his
grandma would still be alive.
She didn’t deserve to ask for a divorce.
Brandon felt angry.
He wanted to grab her and yell at her.
He felt better when she was upset.
His mom organized the papers and handed
them to him.
She told him to sign them.
く
Brandon didn’t feel like reading them.
His mom wouldn’t let him get ripped off.
He signed the papers.
His mom looked relieved.
She smiled.
“Now, I can relax. We just have to wait a
month for the divorce to be final.”
