Chapter 51 You Lost
Gwen didn’t linger on her loss in the second lap. Instead, she focused on the third corner ahead. At the crucial moment, she managed to overtake Jake by a small margin and cross the finish line first.
The silent rivalry between them ended with Gwen’s victory.
The crowd, who had been holding their breaths, erupted into cheers when she won.
Horse racing was unpredictable. The outcome was uncertain until the very last second.
After a cool–down lap, Gwen halted her gorse in front of Jake and dismounted gracefully.
Her radiant, lively face broke into a smile as she removed her helmet. Her dark long hair cascaded over her shoulders. Her beauty captivated everyone, making it impossible to look away.
Still catching her breath from the race, she said, “Mr. Hall, you lost.”
Gwen had once won the prestigious Queen’s Cup tournament and received praise from the queen herself.

In the past, she had hidden her strong and competitive nature to maintain a meek and gentle image, all for Jake’s attention. Now, looking back, it all seemed like a joke.
The faint buzz in Jake’s chest continued. His complicated gaze lingered on Gwen for a few seconds before he finally looked away. “When did you learn to ride a horse?” he questioned.
He was shocked that Gwen knew how to ride a horse when she had just arrived. Now, he was even more surprised that she had the skills for competition.
The Gwen in front of him was wild and untamed, like a rose with thorns. She exuded a captivating allure that he had never seen during their marriage.
He had to admit, he was captivated.
“Mr. Hall, you’re going off–topic. We’re discussing Savant Group’s involvement,” Gwen remarked in a cold and distant
tone.
Jake swallowed the rest of his questions and replied, “Bring the contract to Hall Group tomorrow.”
Gwen lifted her head arrogantly, the corners of her eyes showing a hint of mockery. “Mr. Hall, you’re really something else–always expecting others to follow in line.
“Let’s be clear about one thing. Savant Group is coming in with equal shares. Neither of us is taking a loss. We’re not here to be Hall Group’s lackeys,” she added.
It seemed that he needed to be reminded that she was no longer the secretary he could command at will.
Gwen handed the reins to the horse trainer who had been waiting for a long time. Then, she turned her back on Jake -confidently and said, “My assistant will handle the details. I’ll only be involved when necessary.”
Jake’s eyes followed her retreating figure until Ashton appeared beside him.
“Be honest, Mr. Hall. Did you let her win?” Ashton’s eyes gleamed with amusement. After all, this partnership was the ideal outcome for his nanorobots project.
It was a win–win situation for all involved. He wouldn’t belleve Jake failed to see that.
Jake glanced away and calmly replied, “No, she has the skills.”
As much as he hated to admit it, Gwen defeated him.
“Looks like your ego might be a little bruised after that,” Ashton teased slightly.
“No. She’s right. Business is business. There’s no reason to stand in the way of profit,” Jake said, masking his slight disappointment. “Let’s move forward with it quieldy.”
With that, he walked out of the equestrian club.
Gwen stepped out of the locker room after she changed out of her riding gear. Just then, she spotted Bradley and Jake approaching.
Jake had an indifferent expression while Bradley chattered non–stop with his arm around Jake’s shoulder.
“Jake, how could you lose to that woman?” Bradley exclaimed. “You’re the unbeatable legend of the Bellmont’s horse racing scene. You must’ve let her win, right?”
“No,” Jake replied. His patience was wearing thin, and he wanted to leave this place as soon as possible.
“Well, she certainly knows how to play her cards. First, she divorces you without a word. Then, she comes back to Bellmont and flaunts herself in front of you, I wonder what her ‘sponsor, Henry, thinks about all this. Will he think that the two of you are rekindling your old flame?”
