Chapter 24 Confrontation
Ethan and Chester both came for Hannah.
Ethan ran fast, plunging into Hannah’s arms.
Chester paused in his tracks. Then he grabbed Rebecca’s hand.
“Madam Rebecca, where’s dad?”
Rebecca gave Hannah a provocative look, then pretended to be gentle.
“Hey over there talking with friends. He’ll join you in a moment.”
Chester immediately cheered up and shouted at Ethan,
Fir
“You took someone else’s mom, so you don’t have a dad It’s all your fault. If it weren’t for you, my mon and dad would have been happy together. The teacher said that a dad has to carry his child across the river. You don’t have a dad, so you should just fall into the river!”
Ethan was undaunted, hands on his hips.
“My mom is a superhero; having her is enough!”
Hannah shielded Ethan behind her and glanced at Chester.
“What good does it do you to rip open someone else’s wounds?”
Rebecca retorted, ‘Chester is just telling the truth. Are you teaching your child not to speak the truth?”
Hannah replied. That’s right, homewreckers always like to twist the truth.”
Rebecca, almost losing her composure, snapped, “Hannah, what are you talking about?”
Hannah, calm and collected, responded, “I’m just telling the truth. Oh, can’t handle the truth?”
That left Rebecca flushed with indignation.
Luckily, the headmaster announced the start of the event, introducing the guest and successfully drowning out their argument.
Rebecca snorted and turned her face away.
Hannah gently soothed Ethan’s cheek, relieved that his mood wasn’t affected, then turned her attention to The Hape, startled.
The guest was Hudson Turns out, he was one of the intors in the kindergarten and had come to announce a donation of a building
The audience erupted in applause,

As he finished speaking, Ethan raised his hand high, jumping up and down to make sure he was seen.
Hannah tried to stop him, but it was too late.
Hudson’s gaze was drawn over, his smile deepening. “Thank you, young man, for letting me join.”
He handed the microphone to Freya and slowly walked towards Hannah.
Ethan’s face flushed with excitement as he bounced and shouted.
“Over here! Over here!”
Yay! I have a dad to join me now!”
Laughter broke out around them. Hannah bowed her head, her toes almost curling in embarrassment.
There are many ways to die, but her darling son had chosen utter humiliation for her!
Rebecca sneered nearby.
“Seems you’re really desperate for a man, letting your cheap son pull people in for you.”
This was spoken softly, only audible to the two of them
Hannah’s already awkward expression turned cold, “Indeed, those with dirty minds see everything as dirty.”
Before Rebecca could respond, Hudson had already approached.
He gently took Ethan’s hand. His usually cool and detached tone was warm.
“Thank you for inviting me. I’ll temporarily take on the role of dad during the competition.”
Ethan, slightly embarrassed, quickly hid behind Hannah.
Hannah, ignoring Rebecca, forced a smile and looked over, “Mr. Whitmore, I’m sorry to trouble you this
time‘
Hudson methodically rolled up his sleeves, revealing well–defined arm muscles.
“My pleasure.”
Hannah was moved.
Hudson was her boss, and he was lowering himself to acommodate her.
She’d feel guilty if she didn’t work hard, given his sacrifice.
Thank you, she whispered again.
Christian also came back, noticing the trio standing to her, his expression instantly cooling.

The two executives had jousted for years, always maintaining civility.
Even if they had fought on the golf course, now they had to pretend all was well.
“Mr. Whitmore seems in good spirits.”

Hudson replied without hesitation, I’m just doing my job, like Mr. Ford’s foundation. You have to show up to show sincerity.”
Christian’s face darkened.
The foundation was Hannah’s creation. After she became pregnant in its second year, he attended its
.events.
But he never cared about these trivial matters.
Certainly, a fellow CEO like Hudson wouldn’t care either, unless Hannah had said something.
Christian Telt not just anger but also disappointment. While he was discussing partnerships with a friend, he had noticed what was happening here.
He was waiting for Hannah to call him to join in cheering for Chester.
