The next morning, I poured my heart Into making breakfast. I made all of Zane’s favorite foods, including pancakes, waffles, toast, freshly baked buns, a sandwich platter, oatmeal, and scrambled eggs.
Since he was so “clever” and had been “working so hard“, of course I had to reward him.
Zane appeared after brushing his teeth. When he saw the breakfast feast, he stared at me, dumbfounded.” Huh? Why did you make so much food?”
“I just made a little extra. I’ll pack the leftovers for Jane,” I explained softly.
Zane didn’t say anything else. He sat down and began to tuck in.
I picked up a spoon. “Do you want oatmeal or scrambled eggs?”
“Scrambled eggs. Add some extra pepper,” Zane replied between mouthfuls of waffles. He was reading his messages on his phone.
I scooped some eggs onto a plate and added a dash of extra pepper. At the same time, I sprinkled some laxatives that I’d prepared beforehand. Then, with a smile on my face, I set the plate down in front of him.
Ten minutes later, he’d cleaned his plate. “I want seconds.”
“Alright.”
There was more where that had come from. I put more eggs on his plate before adding pepper and a scoop of laxatives.
After I placed the plate down in front of him, he scarfed down the whole thing. “Seriously, you’re a great cook!” he said to me in between bites.
This was one of the very rare moments that he praised me. I grinned and asked, “Do you want more?”
“Sure, give me a little more. Ouch! Why does my stomach hurt?” Zane clutched his stomach as he got up. Bent at the waist, he made his way toward the bathroom with a grimace.
I watched him leave. Then, I took his plate to the sink and scrubbed it thoroughly. I also got rid of the leftover laxative at the same time.
“Honey, something’s not right! Come here!” Ten minutes later, Zane was calling for help from the bathroom. “Something’s not right with me. It won’t stop…”
I took a step forward, pinching my nose. “What did you eat?”
“I felt hot in the morning, so I had a cold drink. God, it won’t stop… Not only does my stomach hurt, my head is spinning too…” Zane said, panting miserably. “I hate having diarrhea. I always have to get an IV drip for it. Stop eating and take me to the hospital…”
Of course I wasn’t about to leave. “Just hold on a little longer. See if it passes.”
“Okay then… I’ll keep going…”
Writhing in pain, Zane couldn’t stop screaming. It was like he was giving birth to a child instead of expelling his guts through his butt.

Chapter 7
I grabbed my phone and texted Jane that she could bring her friends over now.
“Jesus Christ…” Zane dragged himself out of the bathroom with difficulty, hunched over. His ashen face was covered in sweat, and he looked absolutely awful,
“My stomach is killing me, and I’ve been shitting water. I feel like it won’t pass…” He paused, then turned around. “Why is it still coming?”
That was three scoops of laxatives; it wasn’t something that passed that easily! I gave him a look of pity.” Just keep going. Once you get the drink out of your system, you’ll be fine-”
“Honey, I’m not expelling the drink anymore. I’m expelling blood…” Zane sat on the toilet bowl, shivering and grunting in pain.
Seeing that it was nearly time, I called emergency services. Less than five minutes later, an ambulance came and took him away. The paramedic asked me to go with Zane as his family member, but I said that I would follow them in my own car and be there as soon as I could.
Yet, after the ambulance left, I didn’t even follow them. Instead, I waited for Jane to arrive.
Now that Zane was finally gone, Jane and I could finally get to work!
