I fought the pain, banging on the coffin,
begging

begging.
“Mom, I’m sorry! Please, let me out! I messed
up, I swear, I’ll never do it again! Mom, I don’t

want to die! Help me!”
Mom forgot that I had claustrophobia.
When we were little, Sarah locked me in a
closet for a day and a night, and I’ve been
scared of small, dark spaces ever since.
My chest heaved, as if someone was choking
- me.
I just wanted out, no matter what, even if it
meant taking the blame for things I didn’t do.
But Mom didn’t care.
L
That night, her voice was cold.
“It’s too late for apologies.”
“So, you’re scared now? You can just think
about what you did!”
Her footsteps faded away.
I struggled, trying to pry open the lid,
desperate for a chance to live.
Then, there were more footsteps.
I thought someone had found me and
screamed for help.
But it was useless. They didn’t notice me.
Eventually, the oxygen ran out, and with no
one coming to rescue me, I closed my eyes.
I was so bitter!
Until I opened my eyes again as a ghost.
Because of my anger, I drifted to Mom’s side.
She and Dad were in France with Sarah,
enjoying a vacation.
For a week, I followed them, watching them
take family photos without me, eating and
laughing, imagining a future without me.
They had forgotten me, and no one cared.
After taking her medicine, Sarah’s face
flickered with an odd expression.

She took Mom’s hand, her voice soft.
“Mom, don’t be upset. When Amy comes back
and apologizes, we’ll forgive her, right? We’re
still family.”
Mom squeezed Sarah’s hand.
“Sarah, Amy will never be family. The moment
she murdered your brother, I stopped seeing
her as my daughter.”
“If only Amy were half as good as you, she
wouldn’t do all these terrible things!”
I scoffed, watching Mom’s anger.
Mom, the killer is right next to you, but you
can’t see her!
く
While Sarah napped, Mom finally decided to
let me out.
She got in the car with Mr. Peterson and
headed out to the wilderness.
Looking at the familiar scenery, I heard
Mom’s voice.
“Amy, are you happy now that you’ve hurt
everyone? You knew Sarah had a heart
condition, and you tricked her into going to
the cemetery at night, almost killing her!”
“You took advantage of her kindness! Even if
you have my blood, I won’t forgive you! How
could a vicious person like you be my
daughter?”
く
“I should have strangled you when you were
born! It would have saved everyone the
trouble!”
“Amy, when you realize what you did wrong,
I’ll let you out.”
Mom still believed Sarah’s lies, waiting for me
to apologize.
But Mom, I’m already dead, just like you
wanted.
Mom stayed in the car.
The others went to the coffin, covered in
blood, and eerie in the sunlight.
A terrible stench seeped out.
L
The bodyguards covered their noses,
frowning and backing away.
“Mrs. Thompson… Ma’am, I… I think
something’s happened to Miss Amy!”
Mr. Peterson held back his disgust and ran to
the car.
“Would you like to take a look?”
Mom sneered.
“What could have happened? She’s clearly
faking to trick us. That demon isn’t going to
die that easily.”
She shouted toward the coffin.
“Amy, you better apologize, or you’ll never get
out of there. I left you air holes in the coffin,
so don’t try to act!”
I was stunned.
Air holes?
There weren’t any!
I suffocated on the first night!
Before I could think about it, Mom’s phone
rang.
Sarah’s crying voice came from the other end.
“Mom, where are you? I had a nightmare! I
dreamed I died in the cemetery! I’m scared! I
want to live with you and Dad for a long
“My heart hurts. Come back and take me to
the hospital. I don’t want to die…”
Mom panicked.
