Chapter 13 Marrying a CEO
“Oh, I saw that. God, he’s so handsome! I think I’m going to fall in love with my job soon!”
“I heard there’s going to be a huge change in the company since he’s reporting early. It seems there’s going to be a massive personnel adjustment.”
“I heard that, too. It seems there are going to be some retrenchments.”
“I know, right? I know many departments have already started hiring new employees.”
Farrah listened to the gossip, which had nothing to do with her. She had a vague idea of what was happening now–Prestige Group’s new CEO was taking over earlier than planned.
She was doubtful of his abilities, though. Was he capable of running a company when he was only 237 How good was he at his job? Prestige Group was one of Ronson City’s biggest companies and played an essential role in the financial sector.
Just then, someone cried, “The car’s arrived! The new CEO is here!”
Everyone turned to look at the entrance, including Farrah. No one could avoid being curious, right?
She saw a tall figure approach with a dozen senior executives surrounding him. The sun shone behind him, illuminating him from behind. They walked past the glass doors and entered the building’s lobby
Silence descended upon the spacious lobby, and everyone straightened their already neat suits. They stood with their backs straight, too.
The new CEO looked young. Farrah couldn’t see his face clearly because of the backlight, but she saw that his footsteps were steady and controlled. He looked like he was used to seeing grand scenes like
this.
Beside I was a young woman in a navy suit. Her long legs stretched out from underneath her figure- hugging skirt of the same color, and she looked good in her heels.
As the entourage approached, Farrah finally caught a glimpse of the man’s face. She widened her eyes and blurted out in surprise, “Adrian?”
She wasn’t too loud, but the lobby was too quiet. Her cry seemed to reverberate around the room, breaking the pin–drop silence.
Adrian, who had his hands in his pockets, stopped. This made everyone’s hearts clench. The young woman beside him immediately zeroed in on Farrah. Her gaze was so sharp that it was almost as if she wanted to slash Farrah to pieces with it.
Seeing that Adrian and his entourage had stopped, the people waiting to welcome him didn’t dare to make a sound.
Despite hiding among the crowd, Farrah’s yellow dress still made her stand out. Adrian turned slightly to focus on her, making her mind go blank when their gazes met. It really was him!
His handsome face remained calm and composed; he didn’t even bat an eye. His gaze slowly turned distant and aloof, and he acted as if they didn’t know each other.
Farrah’s mind had short–circuited, so she had no idea what to say or how to react. She stood there stiffly.
Adrian looked away and continued to the elevators. He didn’t get mad or blame anyone–it was as if nothing had happened.
His secretary, Germaine Keller, gave Farrah a frosty look before following him. The senior executives
hurried after them, still unable to relax. Everyone only sighed in relief when everything went back to
normal.
Soon, the senior executives–including Adrian–filed into the elevators. Invited media outlets followed them and filmed the whole thing. In conclusion, it was a grand event.
Farrah only returned to her senses when she was dragged aside. Natasha couldn’t believe what had happened.
She sounded angry as she snarled, “What the hell were you doing? Do you realize how much trouble you almost caused? I could’ve lost my job if the CEO were to get mad! What was with that ditzy bimbo act?”
Farrah was still stunned. How was she going to process this? How could her shotgun husband be the new CEO of Prestige Group?
After a while, she pulled out her phone to watch the livestream of Adrian’s meeting with the senior executives. The doors to a conference room that could fit over a hundred people opened as he strode into the room, looking confident and self–assured.
He was still surrounded by people, including Germaine. She had a flawless figure and carried herself with elegance and poise. Her expression was severe and cold.
Adrian’s composure and calmness won applause from the audience, whether in terms of his entrance or speech. It was evident he’d won the company’s senior executives‘ acknowledgment and respect. He didn’t have a script for his speech, but he showed no fear.
