The night soon fell: The moon shone brightly in the sky while the stars twinkled, and Locke Manor became brightly lit.
Philip walked Adrian and Farrah to the front door. Sheila didn’t say a word to Adrian throughout the meal, not even until Adrian and Farrah left.
Farrah couldn’t understand this. On the way back to Floral Spring Residences, Adrian looked out the window, his gaze dark. The festering wound in his heart tore open again, sending pain through his body.
Farrah turned to look at him. This was her first time thinking that someone as powerful and all–knowing as him had his weak side, too. He had more–money than he could ever need, but that didn’t mean it could buy him what he wanted–a proper family.
When they were almost reaching, Adrian turned to look at Farrah. He asked, “Did Grandpa say anything to you today?”
She met his gaze, feeling like he was worried about something. So, she averted her gaze and said, “Uh… He asked me when he’d have great–grandchildren.”
