Chapter 86 Thanks to Adrian
“Grandpa…” Jordan murmured, blood trickling from his lips, his breathing weak.
“What happened, Jordan?” Philip leaned in, his eyes widening as he realized the severity of Jordan’s injuries. He quickly ordered, “Hurry! Get him to the hospital!”
At Prestige Group, the towering building stood as a landmark of Ronson City. It basked in the brilliant sunlight that illuminated it, representing the dreams of countless young people.
Inside the elegantly minimalist CEO’s office, the young and handsome Adrian was strategizing. He sat in his chair by the window, having just finished a video call.
As he was handling some documents, his personal phone rang beside his mouse. Glancing at the caller ID, he picked it up and answered, “Hello, Grandpa.”
“Did Jordan’s injuries come from you?” Philip asked gravely.
Adrian calmly closed the document in his hand and leaned back in his chair, his eyes half–lidded. “Did he tell you?”
“With injuries like that, can he even talk?” Philip sounded somewhat certain. “I had a feeling.” His tone turned stern, reflecting his worry.
The injuries were severe!
Adrian’s expression remained composed as he held the phone. He was gently tapping his fingers on the table. “Grandpa, it was his own stubbornness that nearly harmed your precious granddaughter–in–law.”
To ease Philip’s anger, he continued before Philip could speak, “Who knows, maybe Fay is carrying your long–desired great–grandchild? After all, we’ve been sleeping together every night lately.”
Just then, Germaine walked in but was a beat too late to catch that part of the conversation.
Upon seeing Germaine, Adrian’s demeanor became even calmer.
On the other end of the line, Philip was astonished. “Jordan caused trouble for Fay? Such a thing was Intolerable!
Adrian didn’t elaborate further. He never lied.
With a low, sensual rumble in his throat, he said, “This time, I spared his life out of mercy. Please let him know that next time, it won’t be so easy.”
As Germaine settled into her seat, she noticed the coldness in Adrian’s gaze, which now seemed darker and more forbidding. After finishing his statement, Adrian didn’t rush to hang up.
Philip sighed heavily on the other end and then voluntarily hung up the call without uttering a word of reproach for Adrian.
Adrian put down his phone and returned to his work.
Germaine didn’t dare to look at him. She averted her gaze and started to organize her materials. She was preparing herself to report to him soon.
In the large conference room of the design department on the 11th floor, Natasha sat at the head of the table, surrounded by all the designers. The atmosphere was tense today.
To be honest, meetings were rare in this department unless there was something important to announce.
Natasha first asked everyone about their progress on current projects. One by one, the designers provided brief updates, and within five or six minutes, everyone had said a sentence or two.
Natasha felt she had a grasp of the situation and said, “Mr. Locke is particularly focused on the Enduring Moments series. This is a great opportunity for our department to shine, but we must seize it! I’m telling you, it’s getting more and more competitive, especially since we’ve just hired new talent.”
What? New talent?
Everyone exchanged glances, their expressions filled with surprise as whispers spread throughout the
room.
“I’m surprised too.” Natasha seemed reluctant. Then, she clapped her hands. “Quiet!”
As the director of the design department, she had no choice but to comply with the higher–ups‘ decisions while also calming the emotions of her team.
The conference room fell silent instantly, all eyes focused on her.
At that moment, the beautiful Daisy spoke up, “Ms. Gray, is Mr. Locke looking down on our abilities? Does he think we’re not good enough? Does he even know what we’re capable of?”
“Who are they hiring? Is it confirmed?” Jack, sporting a new nose ring, asked directly, “Just tell us, who is m? What’s their background?”
“A rising star in the design world, Sarah Stone,” Natasha replied. “Though she has many titles, I believe everyone here is just as capable as she is, including Farrah!”
