“No!”
Alyssa flushed and was at a loss for words.
Cathy had a bad relationship too and used her past to comfort Alyssa. She wanted Alyssa to live a little. Alyssa was shy and couldn’t meet her eyes with Ethan afterward.
That night, Alyssa couldn’t sleep and got up for a glass of water. She bumped into Ethan, who was also having trouble falling asleep.
Cathy’s strict rules didn’t apply to Ethan. He could come and go as he pleased and didn’t have to live with them. So, Alyssa was surprised to see him at night.
Ethan was holding lasagna and beamed at Alyssa. “Do you want some?”
Alyssa wanted to say no, but her stomach grumbled.
She reluctantly took a bite, then her eyes widened in shock
It tasted exactly the same as the one she had. She thought for a while before asking.
“The food I had this year…”
“I made them all,” Ethan admitted honestly while moving his mouse casually.
Ethan seemed like a busy man as he was always working on his computer.
“Why?”

Alyssa regretted asking as soon as she said it. Wasn’t it obvious?
Would Ethan think she was pretentious for asking this obvious question?
First, Ethan was nice to her in the reality show. He even cooked for her and talked to her when she was feeling down. Alyssa wasn’t that oblivious.
However, Ethan didn’t put Alyssa on the spot. He merely put a fried egg on her plate.
“Because you want it.”
Alyssa was overwhelmed and tossed and turned all night. The next day, even makeup couldn’t‘ conceal the dark rings under her eyes.
The makeup artist was anxious while Cathy was excited.
“My darling, you seemed to have a long night. How is it? Is he good in bed?”
Alyssa’s face turned beet red. The staff’s prying gazes made her feel uncomfortable. So, she did an exceptionally good job that day to finish the scene as soon as possible. And she didn’t talk to Ethan once Cathy yelled cut.
Strangely, when she returned after touching up her makeup, people stopped gossiping and acted like nothing had happened.
After the day’s shooting, she went to the gym to practice her moves as
usual.
Two hours later, Alyssa was covered in sweat. When she was going back to her room, Ethan came to the gym with a cake.
The cake was decorated with her favorite cartoon character. It wasn’t
perfect, but one could tell the baker had put a lot of thought into it.

Alyssa was stunned.
Only a handful of people knew that today was her real birthday.
Irene married Marco for his money only. She didn’t like that Marco went to college and was a vulgarian. Therefore, she didn’t like Alyssa too.
Alyssa was born on 4, June. But Irene didn’t like the number 4. So, she changed Alyssa’s birthday to 8, June. 8 was the number she liked.
When Alyssa was little, she would celebrate her birthday twice. On 4, June, she’d celebrate with Marco outside. On 8, June, she would celebrate with Irene to please her.
While living with Oliver, Alyssa had to live in a small room and nobody would celebrate her birthday, not even the fake one.
After she and Antonio became a couple, on 4, June, Antonio would go. home early to prepare a surprise. They would spend the day alone and only invited friends over for a birthday party on 8, June.
However, once Roxie came into their life, Antonio forgot about the meaning of 4, June.
Since then, nobody remembered Alyssa’s real birthday.
Alyssa wiped her tears off and blew the candle without being told. She sobbed, “Ethan, how do you know it’s my birthday?”
Looking at her watery eyes, Ethan felt his heart break a little, but he got ahold of himself.
“Hey, you didn’t give me the chance to sing Happy Birthday. I’m not that bad a singer, right?” Ethan changed the subject as usual.
But Alyssa didn’t play along this time. She held his face in her hands and said, “Tell me.”
