Chapter 17 A Birthday Party
Tears welled up in Alyssa’s eyes instantly.
This was what she liked about Ethan. He always noticed right away when her soft spots. And when she tried to convince herself to let go, he’d seek justice for her.
It rained heavily the day Ethan returned to the country. Alyssa didn’t go to the airport to see him off.
But the couple cuddled for a long time at home. Ethan didn’t leave the house reluctantly until he had to.
It was sunny in Edgecoast. Ethan saw a good show as soon as he got off the plane.
A haggard boney Antonio was pinned to the tile floor of the airport by a group of strong bodyguards. Antonio struggled vigorously to break free and ended up being tied up.
“Let go of me! I’ve got my passport back! I’m going abroad to find her!
“I know I’ve done wrong. Grace will forgive me. She’ll come back to me!”
Antonio wasn’t the leader of the Kaufman family anymore. Tyrell was. So, the bodyguards just ignored him.
They even tightened their grip on Antonio, making him wail in pain.
A woman limped toward them quickly from not far away.
Roxie just finished breastfeeding her baby and was wearing a pair of slippers. She seemingly didn’t care about her disheveled state.

Roxie hadn’t been allowed out of the Kaufman’s house for a long time. After Grace died, all the evil things Roxie had done were exposed. The Kaulinans locked her up.
Roxie lost everything, including her freedom to leave the house. Antonio never asked about her again. Even the nanny could look down upon her.
If Roxie wasn’t the mother of Antonio’s child, she wouldn’t be able to stay in the Kaufman’s house.
In the past, Roxie always dreamed about replacing Grace and taking over everything Grace owned. Roxie wanted to be the Mrs. Kaufman who was envied by all women.
But now, she was just a milking cow and didn’t even have the right to take care of her own child.
Several times, Roxie tried to sneak the baby back from the nanny. But she failed every time and was warned and threatened. One time. Roxie was pushed off the stairs and broke a leg.
Antonio wasn’t much better off. After he was forced out of the company by Tyrell. he became depressed and easily irritable. His family directly set guards to watch over him.
Antonio went mad after he saw the movie trailer. He tried every means he could think of to steal his passport. He claimed that Grace wasn’t dead, so he must go abroad to find her.
This time, Antonio escaped by hiding in the trunk. It was too late when the guards discovered and caught up with him. The Kaufinans refused to show as it was embarrassing. So, they sent Roxie.
They told Roxie that if she couldn’t bring Antonio home, she’d be of no use to them.

The ruckus in the hall had attracted much attention. Many passengers stopped and watched.
Roxie didn’t have time to feel embarrassed. She hurriedly tried to drag Antonio off the floor.
“Antonio, stop it. Let’s go home.”
Antonio thought, “Home? I don’t have a home anymore since Grace is gone.”
Antonio fought Roxie fiercely. He even kicked at her limping leg harshly.
“Bitch! It’s your fault! Grace left me because you drove a wedge between us. I shall kill you!”
People who liked gossip had taken out their phones and started filming. Roxie was defenseless against Antonio’s beatings.
Roxie thought, “Why? I’ve lost my freedom and my leg. I’m the public. enemy now. Why does Antonio have to humiliate me like this now?”
Roxie shouted, “Antonio, are you out of your mind?! Why didn’t you want. to kill me when you fuck me?! Grace died a long time ago! You killed her!”
Enraged, Antonio choked Roxie with one hand. The two began to
wrestle.
Ethan smiled and left the airport his housekeeper.

As Ethan got in the car, the housekeeper handed him an invitation.
“Mr. Ethan, the Kaufman family has a new leader now and wants to get on our good side. This is an invitation to Antonio’s son’s one–year–old birthday party.”

Ethan took the invitation and glanced at its contents. He thought, “Tyrell
seems like a clever guy. He knows that the Kaufman family is no match for my family now. So, he is eager to please us.
“In this case, I should go and watch the show.”
At the birthday party, Roxie’s child was praised by the guests while Roxie was locked inside her room.
Rena told people that Roxic was ill and had to stay in bed.
In fact, people all understood that Rena was ashamed of Roxie as she was from a poor village.
When Grace was Rena’s daughter–in–law, Rena would demand Grace to accompany her even if Grace was really sick and looked pale.
Halfway through the party, Antonio, the child’s father, hadn’t shown up.
Many guests started whispering. Rena had no choice but to explain for Antonio, saying that he was ill too.
But the truth was Antonio had never visited the child since the child was born. He didn’t want the child at all. Rena was afraid that Antonio would hurt the child, so she didn’t tell him about the party.
Tyrell smirked after listening to Rena’s explanation.
He went on the stage and snatched the microphone from Rena.
“Everyone, thank you for coming over tonight. Although Antonio doesn’t feel well, he still recorded a video to send his love to his son.”
Rena’s expression changed drastically. She wanted to send a maid to stop. Tyrell, but the video had already started playing on the big screen.
The first thing people saw was a wall full of Grace’s photos. As the

camera turned, people saw various kinds of bionic robots and even some sex dolls. All of them were customized to be life–size figures of Grace.
Looking unhinged, Antonio held the hand of the doll and knelt in front of it. He chanted repeatedly about asking for Grace’s forgiveness.
“Grace, finally. You’ve forgiven me, right? I knew it. You wouldn’t abandon me. I love you. I love you!”
Then, Antonio did something even more creepy and disgusting. Rena immediately ordered a maid to unplug the projector.
Ethan frowned and clenched his fists.
He thought, “Tyrell is just as bad as Antonio.”
Suddenly, loud noises were coming from upstairs. Two nannies were shoved down the stairs.
Antonio had sneaked into the house at some point. Now, he was holding the baby up with one hand and was trying to strangle him with another
hand..
“You bastard child. Die!”
