Chapter 65
Way too dramatic
Meghan’s POV
There was no need for him to be so dramatic. It was just for a few days. It’s not as if he spent weeks in there.
I watched Ryan’s calls go unanswered over and over again.
“I think he’s really serious this time, Meghan. He’s not taking you back,” he said and I shot him a glare.
“Can you not jump to conclusions and try harder to convince him. With the way you were sounding, even I wouldn’t listen to you,” I stated and he dialed the number again.
“It’s not even ringing now. I think we should just give him space. When he tries and fails miserably to bring Veronica back, I am certain that he will come back to you. He doesn’t have a choice,” Ryan said.
It would have been a good idea but unfortunately, it wasn’t good enough. Especially when Veronica was involved that woman was a snake and there was no way I was going to let her sneak her way back into his life.
“What if she accepts him back,” I asked.
“Why would she? She is already pregnant for another man, isn’t she?” He asked and a frown settled on my face. That was the problem.
What if we were wrong? What if she was actually pregnant for Carter and was just hiding it before she was pissed? How would I stand a chance against that?
ر
“Meghan?” He called and I blinked. “What are you thinking about?”
“Getting rid of her, what else?” I shrugged and he looked at me like I’d lost my mind. “What?”
“I don’t think that is a very smart thing to do. Do you know who her father is?”
“I do! I met him, obviously and he greatly embarrassed Carter and I,” I huffed. I would never forget that moment in years to come and I was counting down to when I would get my revenge.
“And you still didn’t learn anything? That man is a billionaire, for goodness sake! Do you think he will spare you if anything happens to his precious child?” He stated.
I bit my lip. That would only be if he caught me right? Everyone was innocent until proven guilty and I… for one was one innocent darling.
“I think you should try winning back Mrs Grayson. She is the only one who can make Carter do anything. If you get her on your side then we are good to go!” He said.
I couldn’t deny he was still right but that would be a very long cut and Veronica would still some leverage over my man. I didn’t want that.
“Fine, we will talk to her but what if it doesn’t work?” I asked, pretending to drop all plans of hurting Veronica.
“Oh, trust me it will. She doesn’t have any other choice,” he grinned.
At first, I wanted to call off his bluff but then it struck me. My eyes widened.
“No fucking way!” I gasped and he smirked. “You slimy son of a bitch! You’ve got dirt on her too!”
“What can I say?” He chuckled.
Wow! So the bastard was blackmailing both me and Mrs Grayson. Who else did he have dirt on?
“Do you also have dirt on Carter? Is that why he is friends with you?” I asked and his expression immediately changed.
“What is that supposed to mean?” He demanded.
“I don’t know. What do you think?” I retorted. I knew I was provoking him. but I couldn’t help it.
His jaw clenched, and his playful smirk vanished. “You should be careful, Meghan,” he said, his tone dangerously low.
I leaned back, crossing my arms. “Why? Afraid I’ll dig too deep? Come on, Ryan. You’re not exactly known for being clean. Maybe I should start asking questions.”
“Enough.” he snapped, his voice sharp. “I’ve been helping you, haven’t I? Don’t bite the hand that’s feeding you, Meghan. You don’t want to be on my bad side.”
“Oh, please,” I scoffed, rolling my eyes. “You think you scare me? If you had dirt on Carter, you’d have used it by now. And if you’re bluffing about Mrs. Grayson, I’ll find out.”
His eyes narrowed. “I’m not bluffing. You want to take Veronica down? Fine. But don’t test me, Meghan. I’ve kept your secrets, haven’t I? Do you think Carter would still even talk to you if he knew the full extent of what you’ve done?”
I froze for a second, the weight of his words sinking in. He wasn’t wrong. Ryan had been my ally for a reason, he knew too much.
