Jake looked confused, he wasn’t expecting
that question.
“Every step.
Hand holding, kissing, living together,
everything.”
Something in my heart broke.
I thought of one afternoon.
I walked in, and I saw my dad on top of Darcy
on the couch.
I will never forget it.
I felt sick, and I felt sick about Jake.

“Are you jealous?
You said Darcy isn’t right for me, you love
me, you’re jealous?”
He grabbed my arm.
I moved away from him.
I was panicked.
Jake looked confused.

His light went out.
He looked broken.

I thought about Jake and Darcy.
I felt terrible.
“Believe what you want.
You knew I didn’t love you, five years ago.”
If he didn’t know I didn’t love him, he wouldn’t
be mad.
Jake looked lost, then he became angry.
