I replied to Tom’s message: [It’s fine. You should spend more time with Isabel over there anyway. You two haven’t seen each other in a while.]

It was true I needed people–doctors, nurses, the confinement nanny, and Harry. But I didn’t think he quite counted as people.
He asked a few more questions about the baby, and I assured him she was doing well and there was no need to worry.

I didn’t realize I was crying until my tears fell onto her clothes.

The nanny grabbed a towel to apply a warm compress to my eyes. “You shouldn’t cry like this during your confinement. If your eyes gel ruined, that’s a lifetime problem.”
