Chapter 3
The man held Rose’s head, his face filled with pleasure as a crystalline liquid seeped from the corner of her mouth.
Moments later, her dull skin gradually brightened, and her cracked lips slowly regained their rosy hue.
Even more astonishing, the withered patterns on the vase came back to life, vivid and lifelike once more.
It was unbelievable!
The man seemed to notice Rose’s transformation and grabbed her neck. “What kind of monster are you? Your face was dry and yellow just now, but after touching a man, it became moist and radiant?”
Rose hadn’t expected the man to suddenly grab her. She looked at him painfully, her fair face turning a sickly shade of purple.
The man said his name was Leo, Mike Bull’s brother. He thought Mike’s death was suspicious and wanted to see what Rose had done to him.

The man said his name was Leo, Mike Bull’s brother. He thought Mike’s death was suspicious and wanted to see what Rose had done to him.
“If you don’t tell the truth, I’ll strangle you right now,” Leo said, gradually increasing the pressure on her neck.
I hid outside the door, covering my mouth in shock.
So this man was Mike Bull’s brother.
But why did his face seem so familiar? I felt like I’d seen him somewhere before, but I couldn’t quite place it.
Fearing for her life, Rose had no choice but to tell the truth.
It turned out that the Vase Maiden village had been cursed. All the girls born there were not only incredibly ugly but also born without limbs.
A half–bald old woman taught the villagers a method to turn these girls into vase maidens when they turned eighteen.
But these maidens needed to constantly feed on men’s bodily fluids.
Otherwise, they would wither and die.
It was also said that after their partner died, the vase maidens could be reborn by attaching themselves to their partner’s bones.
But the prerequisite was that the partner’s bones had to be similar in size to the vase maiden’s body.
Suddenly, everything clicked. No wonder Rose had chosen to marry my father. She had her eye on his bones all along.
Leo was shocked after hearing this, but a sly smile soon spread across his face.
“So, you need a man every day?” he asked.
Rose didn’t understand what Leo meant, but she nodded, her face flushing red.
“That’s perfect. Your husband borrowed money from us and can’t pay it back. You can work off his debt instead.”
As I saw Leo carrying Rose out, I quickly ran back to my room, bumping into my father on the way.
Startled, he raised his hand and slapped me. “You’re as ugly as a ghost, and you pop out like one too. Are you trying to scare me to death?”
“Dad, Rose is…” I began, but before I could finish, Rose’s cries for help echoed from the courtyard.
My father thought the man he had brought for Rose was causing trouble again. He told me to go back to my room and pretend I hadn’t seen anything, then hurried out.
