We were shocked.
“Chloe, don’t you miss your mom?”
She nodded.
“Yeah, but she messed up. It’s okay if they
don’t forgive her.”
Brittany was on the door, covering her mouth.
Chloe saw her and said, “Hi.”
Brittany was crying.
Chloe was excited.
“Mom!”
She cried.
“Why now?! I miss you!”
“I’m sorry.”
Mom cried.
Chloe grabbed Brittany’s hand.
“Grandma, Grandpa, Sarah, Ashley, my mom’s
here!”
I said,
“You happy your mom’s here? Did you forget
about me?”
Chloe promised,
“I won’t, I love you all. I love my grandmas,
grandpas, Sarah, Ashley, and Mom!”
Brittany looked at us.
“I’m leaving in a few days. Can I see Chloe?”
They said nothing.
Chloe asked,
“Mom, where are you going? Are you staying
with me?”
Brittany didn’t answer.
Mom said,
“Your mom’s staying with you.”
Brittany was thrilled.
Mom said,
“We’re only letting her stay because of
Chloe.”
Chloe kissed Mom.
I watched them.
Families are good.
