“Wait, is that Mr. Henderson’s voice?”
“Didn’t he say his family was sick and he was
taking them to the States for treatment?”
“What’s he talking about, ‘the truth‘?”
The room froze.
<
Everyone started looking around, trying to
find the source of the voice.
But before anyone could spot him, Chad
suddenly yelled.
“Who’s disrupting the press conference?
Security, get in here and grab him!”
Chad sounded really freaked out.
People picked up on his nervousness, and
suddenly they weren’t so focused on me
anymore.
But then, Mr. Henderson appeared.
And his entrance was something else.
He was in handcuffs, being escorted into the
room by two police officers.
Chad’s face went white the second he saw
the cops.
He took a step back without anyone noticing.
“Don’t bother looking for me, Chad. I already
turned myself in. I suggest you do the same.”
Mr. Henderson didn’t yell, but everyone heard
him.
The reporters knew there was a major story
brewing, and they were practically drooling.
“Walter Henderson? What the hell are you
talking about? You’re barking up the wrong
く
Chad was trying to act cool.
Brittany knew something was up. She let go
of Chad’s arm and frowned.
“Mr. Henderson, what are you doing? If
anyone should be turning themselves in, it’s
Ethan.”
Brittany pointed at me.
Mr. Henderson sighed and bowed his head.
Then, he walked through the crowd and stood
in front of me.
Brittany sighed in relief and grabbed Chad’s
arm again.
Г
“Mr. Henderson’s getting old. His eyes must
be going. He recognized Ethan but couldn’t
recognize you.”
Brittany could feel Chad’s arm tensing up,
and she tried to reassure him.
Chad wiped the sweat off his forehead.
“Yeah, yeah.”
Everyone heard what Brittany said and saw
what Mr. Henderson did.
They started putting two and two together.
“So, are you in cahoots with Ethan, old-
timer?”

“They’ve been saying they can’t find any
evidence to convict Ethan. You got
something?”
The reporters swarmed Mr. Henderson. If it
weren’t for the two cops, they would have
stuffed their microphones down his throat.
The coworkers started yelling at me again.
“Ethan’s a scumbag! Mr. Henderson’s been an
honest man his whole life, and he’s using
him.”
“Officers, please find out the truth. Mr.
Henderson’s a good man. All the bad stuff
was Ethan’s doing.”
But no one expected what happened next. Mr.
Henderson, tears in his eyes, got down on his
knees in front of me. He started hitting his
head on the floor.
“I’m so sorry, Mr. Hayes! My granddaughter
was really sick, and I took Chad’s money and
ran away.”
“Because I ran, you got blamed. I’m so sorry.”
