Chapter 6
“Cynthia” stared at my dad in shock, then suddenly bowed before him. “Mr. Woodward, what a surprise to see you in Ironreach!
“Why didn’t you let me know you were coming? I could have arranged for my dad to give you a proper welcome.”
As soon as she finished speaking, the faces of “Cynthia’s” entourage soured instantly.
They looked at her with disdain, their hushed voices clear enough to hear.
“She’s the fake heiress, hurting the real one? She must have a death wish.”
“That child was killed by her own hands. I had nothing to do with it.”
“At most, we were accomplices, but she’s the real murderer here:“.
“We should report her. After all, she forced us to do this, and we hardly knew the real heiress, It’s understandable to make a mistake.”
“Cynthia“, who was bowing, listened to their words, and her already ghastly expression darkened further.
She crawled closer to my dad, tears streaming down her face as she pleaded, “It’s all a misunderstanding! This is all Oliver’s fault. He forced me to pretend to be the rich heiress! Mr. Woodward, you’ve watched me grow up; you know my character better than anyone.
“I just got swept up in love! I was blind to who he really was. I had no idea your daughter was back in town! If I had known her identity, I wouldn’t have dared to bully her, even if you gave me a thousand chances…”
As I listened, I narrowed my eyes at the crumbled “Cynthia“, suddenly recalling some details about her.
She was the daughter of our family driver, named Cindy.
Her mother passed away when she was young, and her father raised her alone while working hard.
My parents took pity on her, thinking it was a nice coincidence that our names sounded a little similar. They figured, since I was their only child, I might feel lonely and decided to help raise her.
Her dad was a good man; He was honest, hardworking, and always kind to me. He often brought fun little toys for Cindy and me to play with.
When we were younger, we played well together without any ulterior motives.
But everything changed when we turned eight.
Cindy had led me away from all the bodyguards to see the flowers outside the city.
We hadn’t even reached the flowers when we were kidnapped.
To save herself, Cindy revealed my identity, claiming she was just the driver’s daughter.*
As she ran away, she didn’t even spare me a glance.
I thought, after all those years of friendship, she would send someone back to rescue me.

But she didn’t.
Once I was rescued, I never saw her again. I later changed my name to Karen and never used the name Cynthia again.
I couldn’t believe that all these years later, she hadn’t changed at all and was using my name to commit
such malicious acts.
My father kicked her hard in the chest. “How dare you still talk to me!
“You killed my grandson and harmed my daughter to this extent. I’ll settle the score with you, piece by piece.”
Cindy shook her head vigorously, crawling toward me on all fours. “Karen, please help me! I didn’t mean to! It was Oliver! He wanted to use me to get ahead and came up with this idea!
“I had no idea that the woman he dated for eight years was you! It’s his treachery, not my fault!”
Looking at the trembling Cindy begging for mercy, I raised my foot and stomped hard on the back of her
hand.
Seeing her pain–stricken expression twisted in agony made me smirk coldly. Letting her and Oliver go to jail would be too merciful.
I wanted to ruin their lives completely and watch them suffer until their last breath.
I glared down at her, holding my child tightly in my arms. “Since you and Oliver both blame each other, I’ll give you a chance to prove your innocence.
“You have one week. Expose each other’s secrets online. Whoever cracks first loses. I won’t hold it against the winner.”
As I watched Cindy and Oliver glare at each other with pure malice, I smiled coldly.
I wanted them both to pay for what they had done to my child.
