It didn’t matter whether Elijah looked at the contents of the USB or not. What mattered was that Zoey was guilty, and everyone could see it. That was enough.
After leaving the hall, Lily caught up to Eleanor
“Are you out of your mind, handing the evidence to Zoey?” Lily demanded.
“Mom, do you really think we could protect the evidence?” Eleanor shot back.
“You should’ve just played the audio. Everyone would’ve seen Zoey for what she truly is.”
“Do you think you’re going to live with the Davis family and Elijah forever? Do you think Elijah is going to let us get away with this?”
Lily had underestimated Elijah’s feelings for Zoey. Eleanor had died in her past life because of this very relationship.
Elijah had already protected Zoey in front of Jayden. There was no way he would let them ruin Zoey’s image. They couldn’t afford to go up against Elijah.
Lily sighed heavily. “I don’t know what kind of luck Zoey has, that Elijah would even look at her.
“Mom, I’m leaving,” Eleanor said flatly, not wanting to hear more, and walked straight toward the exit.
Outside, the autumn wind howled, biting cold cutting through her thin clothes, making it difficult for Eleanor to take a step.
She looked up at the sun, but dizziness washed over her, and she collapsed.
Someone caught her from behind and, without saying a word, shoved her into a
a car.
When Eleanor saw the man’s face, she struggled to break free.
“Let go of me! Get away!” she yelled.
But the man’s strength was overwhelming, and he easily held her tight, pressing her back against his chest.
The familiar warmth of his breath against her skin filled her with anger and shame. Without thinking, she bit down on his wrist.
The man clicked his tongue in annoyance but didn’t let go.

Eleanor tasted blood in her mouth, but his arms only tightened around her.
She stopped biting and turned her head to glare at him.
“Not going to bite anymore?” Elijah murmured with a low chuckle.
Eleanor stared at him, fury bubbling in her chest

Elijah’s eyes darkened as he looked at her face, her skin pale like porcelain, and her breaths shallow. A streak of blood on her lips only made her even more irresistible.
But the next moment, her eyes filled with tears again, holding back the pain and frustration. She looked broken, yet in that state, she was still magnetic.
Elijah’s expression deepened. He grabbed her chin, forcing her lips against his in a crushing
kiss.
Eleanor hesitated for only a second before violently struggling. She kicked him hard, leaving several shoe prints on his expensive suit.
But Elijah didn’t let go. His kiss only grew more forceful, making it hard for her to breathe. Her strength drained, and she felt herself giving in, unable to stop him.
He pressed her further, his fingers tightening around the back of her neck, pulling just enough away to speak in a low, hoarse voice. “Are you angry?”
“Let go…
let
go…
Eleanor gritted her teeth, raising her hand, but Elijah grabbed her wrist.
He yanked off his tie and used it to bind her hands behind her back.
“This is the only way you’ll be obedient,” he said,
Eleanor’s sense of shame left her speechless. She struggled briefly, but Elijah’s grip tightened. He was not letting go.
Frowning in anger, he hissed, “Don’t move. You don’t want your hands anymore?”
It wasn’t until then that Eleanor realized the intense pain in her hands. The cold sweat poured down her body.
“My hand… my hand…” she whispered, panic creeping in. Her vision blurred.
Shivering, she felt someone pull her close again. “Come here.”
When Eleanor woke up, she was in a hospital.
Though her eyes moved, her consciousness hadn’t fully returned. She heard the voices/by

her bedside,
“How is she?” A deep voice, familiar but carrying an edge of danger.
“Elijah, it’s fine. I guarantee with my career, Miss Brown’s hand will recover fully.”

The mention of the word jolted Eleanor awake. Her half–closed eyes fixed on the nameplate of the doctor beside her.
“Chief of Neurology, Gabriel Dawson.”
The name was so familiar.
Suddenly, memories flooded her mind.
In her past life, Zoey had cut her hand while cooking. Elijah, worried, had insisted on bringing in the best neurologist to examine Zocy’s minor injury.
That day, Eleanor had received an opportunity to redesign jewelry but had her hand nerves. severed by a group of attackers.
She begged the hospital to find the best neurologist, only to be told that Elijah had taken the doctor to Zoey for her small cut.
She called Elijah, pleading with him, but he said. “Can you stop going crazy every time Zoey has a little incident? Eleanor, aren’t you tired of this?”
