Eleanor couldn’t focus on anything but the look she kept giving him, so frantic that she didn’t
even notice the towel slipping lower on her body Her chest, exposed for the briefest.
moment, seemed to shine with an almost accidental allure.
Elijah’s gaze simmered, a storm brewing in his eyes, but he remained languid, almost waiting, like he had all the time in the world.
Eleanor bit her lip. She knew he was doing it on purpose.
Frustrated, she parted her lips, silently pleading “Elijah, help me.”
Almost at the same moment, Zoey flung the covers back and caught a glimpse of the pink hue in the bed.
But before she could get a proper look, the blanket was quickly pressed down again.
Elijah lazily spoke, “I need to change. Leave.”
Eleanor sighed in relief, but her eyes flicked toward Zoey, who was now staring intently at the marks on Elijah’s neck.
With an almost uncontainable impatience, Zoey said, “Elijah, your neck…”
Eleanor’s interest piqued. She was curious to see how Elijah would respond to his beloved Zoey questioning him.
Stealing a glance, her eyes locked onto his–full of an unsettling intensity that sent a shiver down her spine.
He met her gaze slowly, stroking the marks on his neck as he casually said, “It was an accident.”
Eleanor’s spine straightened, heat rushing to her face. She quickly slammed the door shut and leaned against it, trying to catch her breath.
Outside, Zoey was stunned. This was the first time Elijah had been so dismissive of her.
“Is there a problem?” Elijah asked, his gaze lowering. His messy hair fell across his forehead, adding a touch of wicked charm to his presence
“No, Zoey said, forcing a polite smile. She turned and left the bedroom, her footsteps. hurried and agitated. She knew that the sounds she had heard earlier could not have been made by just one person.

That woman is still in the bathroom. Zoey’s eyes narraved. But Elijah is protecting her. Who is she? Zoey thought.
Her gaze snapped to something behind the sofa Her steps quickened as she approached, and she saw it clearly: a woman’s handbag–Eleanors
It’s her again. Enraged, Zoey kicked the bag without hesitation, scattering its contents across the floor. Her expression twisted as she looked down at the things that had spilled out.
Whatever. That crippled woman won’t need them anymore, Zocy thought.
Eleanor, hearing Zoey’s footsteps retreat, quietly cracked open the door, only to find Elijah leaning against the doorframe, a small object hooked in his fingers.
Her face flushed crimson as she reached out to grab it, but Elijah quickly pinned her to the door.
The heat from the bathroom hit them both, amplifying the tension between them, charging the air with an almost palpable desire.
He leaned closer, his voice hushed and dangerous. “Say what you just whispered.”
Elijah’s breath wrapped around her, his presence intoxicating. Eleanor clenched her lips, struggling against the sensation. Her hair, damp from the steam, clung to her flushed skin. like dewy rose petals–an image both pure and provocative.
He cupped her chin, forcing her lips open as he kissed her deeply.
“Say it,” Elijah murmured, his hand leisurely moving along her leg, inching closer to crossing the line.
Eleanor glared at him, feeling the madness of the moment. Zoey was right outside. But with Elijah, anything was possible.
She bit her swollen lips and gritted out, “Elijah, help me.”
“Help with what?” His breath came out in a soft sigh.
Eleanor’s face turned even redder as she saw him casually pull at her underwear.
Don’t let this happen again,” he muttered as he placed the underwear in her hand.
She squeezed the fabric tightly, retreating into the bathroom.
By the time she finished her bath and emerged, both Elijah and Zoey were gone.

In the car, Zoey was still processing how to explain her presence in the house when Elijah dialed the phone at the Davis‘ mansion.
The butler answered, “Elijah?”
“The maid responsible for the coffee room is gone.”
“What happened?”
“She can’t even tell the difference between coffee beans. What’s the point of keeping her?”
“Understood.”
Zoey stayed silent, afraid to make a sound. She realized the coffee beans were something she had had the maid change because she loved that particular blend–and because Eleanor hated it.
-Fists clenched, Zoey wondered if Elijah had made the call on purpose, just for her to hear.
She couldn’t fathom Elijah’s thoughts, his motives.
When they arrived at school, Zoey didn’t linger as usual. She hurriedly got out of the car, and Elijah didn’t seem to mind, instructing the driver to leave without waiting.
Eleanor had just returned to school when she received a message from the director about the submission deadline. She turned and made her way to the director’s office.
To her surprise, Zoey was there as well.
Each grade had one representative for the competition, but this year, their graduating class had two spots–thanks to Elijah’s influence.
