Looking out for oneself was simply human nature.
Haven wasn’t wrong.

Eleanor stepped aside, offering a slight smile. “Go ahead. Your dress is a dark–colored one. It’ll look great in the photo next to Elijah.”
She even gave Haven a perfect excuse.
Haven hesitated for a moment, then thanked her and moved to Elijah’s other side.
Meanwhile, Eleanor stood at the very edge.
Just as everyone posed for the photo, Elijah raised his hand, blocking the camera,
He said in a deep voice. The contestants should be in the center.”
After saying that, he casually brushed off Zoey’s hand and moved to the very edge, right beside Eleanor.
Instinctively, Eleanor tried to step away, but a hand pressed gently against her back.
His warm palm, separated only by a thin layer of fabric, sent heat through her skin, making her panic.
She gently reached out to pull his hand away, but he grabbed her wrist and pressed it against her lower back. His thumb, adorned with the ruby ring, slowly traced over her arm.
A shiver ran down her spine. No matter how she struggled, she couldn’t break free from his grip.
Eleanor found him crazy.
There were so many people here, yet he acted so recklessly without caring about the eyes. watching them.
Elijah lowered his gaze, his warm breath brushing against the top of Eleanor’s head. In a voice only the two of them could hear, he murmured, “Move again, and I’ll turn you around.”
Eleanor looked up at him, just as the cameras clicked.
The moment the photo shoot ended, Zoey eagerly walked over. Only then did Elijah finally let go of Eleanor.

Zoey subtly bumped Eleanor aside and affectionately held onto Elijah, signaling the reporters to take more photos.
Eleanor steadied herself and turned to leave.

But unexpectedly, a reporter stirred up trouble, nsisting that the organizers keep the three contestants for an interview.
The first few questions were normal, mostly about promoting the competition as required by the organizers.
But then, the questions started getting ridiculous
Especially the conflict between Eleanor and Zoey during the competition. It was the biggest highlight of the event, and the reporters wouldn’t miss such a juicy topic.
“Miss Brown, you lost to Miss Taylor in the PK round. How do you feel about it?”
Before Eleanor could speak, Zoey quickly responded, “Although I won the competition, Eleanor actually has higher academic scores than me at school. I’m sure she’ll work even harder next time.”
The reporters looked at each other and seemed to understand what Zoey meant.
She implied that someone who couldn’t win a competition was unlikely to have such high academic scores, unless, as some fans suggested, they had connections with the faculty at school.
Eleanor turned her head to look at Zoey and mimicked her tone, saying, “Even if my academic scores aren’t that high, winning the competition is all that matters. I believe your must have given your best effort for this event, right?”
There was a hidden mockery in the words.
In the past, Eleanor had endured plenty of Zoey’s sarcasm. Even if she couldn’t imitate it- perfectly, she could certainly manage seven or eight–tenths of it.
A student with low academic scores suddenly won first place in the competition, yet she still dared to imply that the school was favoring Eleanor.
Then it’s only natural for Eleanor to subtly imply that the competition was rigged.
The journalists quickly understood the situation and turned their cameras toward Zoey.
Zoey’s expression became stiff. She tried to smile but could not do it naturally. Clenching her teeth, she gave a subtle signal to the reporter she had bribed.

The reporter moved to the front and looked directly at Eleanor. He spoke without hesitation. “Miss Brown, based on the designs presented, Miss Taylor’s work includes solar elements, while yours features stars and the moon. Did you take inspiration from her? From what I understand, you had already seen Miss Taylor’s design drafts before the competition.”
Eleanor had not expected this turn of events.
Zoey really used all sorts of tricks to suppress her.
Zoey knew better than anyone who had copied whom, yet she was now trying to frame. Eleanor for plagiarism.
They cleverly chose the word “inspiration“.
To make things worse, the reporter reminded everyone that Eleanor had seen Zoey’s design. drafts before the competition.
If Eleanor admitted to taking inspiration from Zoey, it would be the same as acknowledging that Zoey was more skilled, forcing her to borrow ideas for her own entry.
If she denied it, she would appear stubborn and dishonest, making her second–place win seem undeserved.
Zoey tried to smooth things over by saying, “Come on, everyone, don’t say that. I’m honored that Eleanor would use my work as a reference.”
Then, with a hint of sadness, she added, “But this time, I added a solar element to my design because I compared the sun to Elijah. With his light, everything becomes beautiful. It does hurt a bit to have my idea borrowed like that.”
Her checks flushed with a gentle blush, showing her shyness.
Some people started stirring things up, taking photos even more enthusiastically.
However, Elijah remained cold and expressionless, showing no emotion at all.
The reporter quickly flattered, “If it were me, I’d definitely be upset. I use the sun, and you use the stars and moon. Isn’t that obviously intentional? It’s just a pity that Miss Taylor’s generosity isn’t appreciated, as some people refuse to admit it.”
