On the other side, Zoey got into the car with Elijah.

She thought that Elijah would praise her, but after waiting for a moment, she realized that het was actually flipping through the documents.
Zoey did not look good, but he did not dare to question him. He could only tentatively hand. the trophy to Elijah.
She smiled gently and affectionately. “Elijah. I didn’t disappoint you, did I?”
Elijah extended two slender fingers and pushed the trophy aside. “It’s in the way.”
Zoey’s face turned pale, frozen in place.
Then, as she glanced up, fear flickered in her eyes.
Outside the car window, the reporter who had helped her corner Eleanor was being beaten by a group of seemingly ordinary passersby.
Judging from the attacker’s skills, it was obvious that they were not ordinary people.
The reporter shouted heart–wrenchingly, “I won’t dare to do it again! I swear I’ll never take money for this again!”
Zoey’s heart trembled..
Elijah didn’t spare a glance outside as if everything outside the car window had nothing to do with him.
With a soft rustle, he turned a page.
The sound of paper scraping was like a sharp blade cutting through Zocy’s heart.
Zoey’s hands trembled in fear, and the trophy slipped. With a loud crash, it shattered along with whatever it struck.
She looked down and saw her jewelry piece lying shattered on the car floor against the crystal trophy.
It was shattered beyond recognition, just like Eleanor’s broken sample..
Zoey stared at the pieces, stunned.
Soon, the car pulled over.

Julian’s face was deathly pale as he clutched his stomach, struggling to stand.
Before he could steady himself, his legs went numb and gave out. With a thud, he collapsed right into his own mess.
At a restaurant.
After the waiter served the dishes, Eleanor realized they were all her favorites.
Eleanor looked at Jaxen, feeling touch. “Jaxen, I didn’t expect you to remember the
Jaxen gently ladled a bowl of chicken soup for her, smiling. “Of course. I also remember that you’re a little foodie. You just don’t dare to eat too much at home.”
Eleanor gazed at the steaming bowl, a wave of emotion washing over her.
She looked at the warm, considerate man before her and felt that she could no longer ignore, his fate.
He lost everything and was exiled to a distant land, never allowed to return. Even when Monica wanted to come home because of her illness, she was refused.
The person who made that decision was Elijah, ruthless man who wiped out his enemies. without mercy.
But in the past, Eleanor was merely a woman under Elijah’s control, with only fragmented pieces of information.
She had overheard him mention once outside his.. that Jaxen had threatened his interests, so he couldn’t be allowed to stay.
That was Jaxen’s final fate.
Thinking of this, Eleanor still reminded him, “Jaxen, no matter what happens in the future, don’t go against Elijah. Take care of yourself and Mrs. Barton first.”
Jaxen’s hand paused as he picked up a dish. He gently asked, “Eleanor, do you know something?”
She quickly shook her head. How could I know anything? Besides, I don’t understand,

business matters. I just… think Elijah is a bit intimidating and worry you might upset him.”
She made up an excuse, afraid Jaxen would suspect her.
Jaxen chuckled softly, but his smile lasted only three seconds.
Then, he immediately set down his utensils, stood up, and greeted politely, “Uncle Elijah.”
Eleanor closed her eyes briefly, cursing inwardly Eureka is such a big city, why do I keep running into Elijah?
She stood awkwardly, lowered her head, and tumed around, staring at a pair of men’s leather shoes in front of her. She greeted, “Mr. Davis”
“Mm.” Elijah responded briefly and walked away.
Eleanor only took a deep breath once the heavy pressure around her disappeared.
The fear of Elijah was bone–deep, and it was not so easy to forget.
“Eleanor, sit down. He’s gone.”
“Mm.” Eleanor sat back down.
Just then, her phone rang a few times.
When Eleanor opened her messages, she saw blessings from her roommates, along with an invitation to a meal next time.
But the happiness didn’t last long. One of her roommates forwarded a video.
“Eleanor, Zoey accidentally liked a fan’s post accusing you of doing shady things at school for better grades. She deleted the like immediately, but many people had already taken. screenshots.”
“Most importantly, she explained that she only did it because she was angry,
