Chapter 72 No Way Out
Eleanor’s long hair was pushed back, a messy tangle framing her wet, pale face. She looked distraught, her pink lips glistening with moisture like freshly washed grapes.
Water dripped down, wetting her hospital gown
The blue and white striped hospital gown clung to her skin.
In places that she couldn’t see, her beautiful collarbones were exposed, and her light–colored undergarments accentuated her figure.
Eleanor did not know what had happened. She only felt that the man in front of him was breathing heavily.
She drew back, and he closed in.

In the end, she was no way out.
He was right in front of her. His undisguised domineering gaze was like a wild beast looking at its prey.
He raised his hand, stopping Eleanor’s breath for a moment as she clenched her thumb ring in a tight grip.
Suddenly, a dry towel landed on the top of her head.
“I’m leaving.” His voice was so hoarse.
“Elijah, your thumb ring.” Eleanor said.
She took out the thumb ring.
Elijah held her hand and used her hand to put the ring on his thumb.
A gust of wind brushed past Eleanor just before the door closed, leaving her confused.
She didn’t think too much about it. When she entered the shower and raised her hand to take off her clothes, she realized how completely exposed she was.
Her heart was filled with shame and anger.
After taking a shower, Eleanor wiped her hair and walked out of the bathroom.

“Elijah?” Eleanor said.
“Don’t call me Elijah,” Elijah said impatiently.
Before Eleanor could speak, the sound of a hairdryer came from above.

Moments later, the hairdryer fell silent, and large hands gently brushed through her hair, cupping her head.
Eleanor was stunned for a moment, and her hands involuntarily clenched into fists.
Elijah’s intense gaze followed her every move, his eyes gradually losing their focus.
He said coldly, “Go to sleep. It looks like you don’t have to eat anything anymore. Jaxen has given you enough.”
Eleanor was stunned for a moment and instantly understood what he meant.
She was worried about Jaxen. Without thinking, she said, “It’s not Jaxen’s idea. It’s me.”
The moment she stopped talking, Eleanor felt a condescending stare. Her knuckles whitened as she clenched her fists even harder.
A sneer curled Elijah’s lips as he realized she was worried about Jaxen.
“Why are you so protective of him? Did you change your target?” he asked.
A deep and cold voice came out of Elijah’s thin lips. His dangerous tone was filled with. displeasure.
“No,” Eleanor replied, raising her head slightly.
She could not implicate Jaxen.
The moment she finished speaking, the hand gripping her head tightened, lifting her uncontrollably into the air.
She couldn’t see Elijah, but she felt sense of oppression.
“Is that so?” Elijah asked.

Eleanor could not stand the pressure and immediately raised her hand to struggle,
Her boldness might have stemmed from being able to see, but whatever the reason, she easily pulled down Elijah’s arms,
“No different from Jaxen? Say it again,” Elijah thatened.
Eleanor choked, struggling to speak. She stubbornly turned her head, as if that would alleviate the pressure.
Elijah ordered, “Lie down.”
Eleanor snorted coldly and lay down with her back turned.
“Elijah, if you’re doing this to me for Zoey, there’s no need. I can’t afford it. The two of you have done enough. I don’t care about this one time.”
Elijah stood by the bed and looked at her indifferently. “Do you have any evidence to what we did?”
He added emotionlessly, “I don’t want to hear such words anymore.”
Hearing this, Eleanor felt a chill run down her spine.

Even after the second time, the experience left her feeling so deeply painful.
Eleanor had always chosen a different path, but fate and power still restrained her.
Eleanor pulled the blanket over herself and ignored him.
Elijah left the ward and walked to the smoking area expressionlessly. He took out a cigarette and tapped it thoughtfully.

“Elijah, you asked me to investigate what happened between Miss Brown and Miss Taylor.”
He handed over the documents.
Elijah opened the file with a cigarette between his fingers.
