Eleanor’s pupils constricted for seconds before she raised her hand to pretend to be blind. “Who is it?”
She pretended to be deaf and mute, even acting little flustered.
When she took the opportunity and tried to escape, her wrist was grabbed by Elijah, and she was forcefully pulled into a deserted path.
Eleanor struggled. “Let go…”
In the cold wind, Elijah leaned over and kissed Eleanor’s slightly parted lips. Then, he stared nonchalantly at her widened eyes.
Elijah restrained Eleanor’s hands, and she could not struggle at all. She only felt her lips being crushed by him as if he was punishing her
She slowly lost her strength, and Elijah let go of her hands. He held her waist with one hand and supported her head with the other.
A moment later, he brushed through her lips and asked hoarsely, “Who am I?”
Eleanor raised her hand and pressed them against his chest, pushing him away from her. “I don’t know you. Please let go of me! Otherwise, I’ll call for help!”
“Alright, let’s see how you’ll call for help.” Elijah’s voice was low and deep, making it difficult to tell his emotions.
Eleanor said, “I’m calling for help now. Help…”
Elijah did not give her a chance. He grabbed her chin and bent down to kiss her lips.
Eleanor muttered, “Hmm, let… go… Elijah!”
“Now you’re being honest, huh? Didn’t you say you didn’t know me?” As he spoke, Elijah pinched her chin teasingly.
Eleanor had no choice but to look straight into his eyes, which were deep and somewhat domineering.
They stared at each other. Elijah narrowed his eyes and saw himself in her amber eyes. clear eyes made him look evil.
Her
She shouldn’t have stared at a man like that. She appeared stubborn and easy to get.

He held her chin and caressed the corner of her lips with his thumb. His fingertips rubbed against her red lips. The kiss just now was far from enough for him.
Elijah lowered his head, and Eleanor turned away to avoid it.
She asked, “Elijah, you’ve seen through me, haven’t you? Then why did you save me just now?”

“I was going past there,” Elijah said lightly, not wanting to waste too much time explaining such things.
Eleanor pursed her lips and said faintly, “Thank you. I won’t trouble you again.”
Elijah’s eyes darkened as he chuckled. “It’s insincere to thank me like this.”
With that, he ignored her struggles and pretended to kiss her.
Suddenly, there was a thud not far away. “Help! Help…”
Zoey had fallen into the water..
Before Eleanor could hear him out, she was suddenly pushed away.
She didn’t have time to steady herself before she crashed into the bushes. The tree branches brushed past her skin like a sharp knife, leaving a few cuts.
As soon as she looked up, she saw Elijah had jumped into the lake to save Zoey.
Elijah carried Zoey to the shore and quickly walked to the emergency room.
Julian reached out to drag Elijah as if she wanted to explain something, but he kicked her
away.
When turning around, Zoey, lying on Elijah’s shoulder, looked accurately in Eleanor’s direction. They were quite far away, but Eleanor was sure Zoey was looking at her.
Eleanor looked at the scene and suddenly sneered. It seemed she had punished Julian, but the final winner was Zoey. It was indeed funny.
When Eleanor came back to her senses, she realized blood had fallen down her arm, some of which had dropped onto the leaves, looking quite tragic.
She carefully propped herself up and was about to leave when she realized she had sprained her ankle. Enduring the pain, she limped back to the ward.
Elijah’s doctor friend walked in just as she sat on the bed. When he saw her swollen ankle and bleeding arm, he immediately called for the nurse to bring an ice pack and disinfectant.

The doctor questioned, “What happened? Your eyes just recovered, and your feet and hands are injured now?”
Eleanor looked at him suspiciously. “How did you know my eyes have recovered?”
The doctor paused and lowered his head without saying anything. He seemed to be examining her ankle.
Her throat tightened, and she slowly said, “Elijah told you?”
He didn’t answer, which was a tacit admission.
Eleanor could not help but tighten her grip on the bedsheets and allow the doctor to treat her wounds.
She felt like a bird whose wings had been broken. She couldn’t fly out of Elijah’s control. He could do whatever he wanted, then toss her aside.
The sudden pain in her ankle brought Eleanor back to the unbearable state of her life before.
She was physically and mentally exhausted. The pain of losing her daughter and being powerless was always killing her. It still was.
Why does it still hurt even if I’ve stopped loving? Eleanor wondered, Why is it so difficult to leave Elijah, who’s toying with me?
The doctor glanced at her and comforted her. “If it hurts too much, you don’t have to endure it. It’s fine if you scream.”
Eleanor did not say a word. She gritted her teeth and endured it. Beads of sweat appeared on her forehead.
