He tsked at Elijah. “But fortunately, she…”
“She’s not pregnant,” Elijah blurted out as he held his cigarette.

His friend was even more surprised. “You even studied obstetric data?”
Hearing this, Elijah was stunned for a moment.“No.”
“Then how do you know?” asked his friend.
“I think I’ve seen it before.” Something flashed across Elijah’s mind.

His friend chuckled and patted Elijah’s chest. “Others are openly flirtatious, but you’re doing it secretly. Just how many women did you get them…”
Elijah raised his cold eyes slightly, scaring his friend so much that he did not dare to continue. “Keep your mouth shut, Dr. Nickie Blake.”
Nick was annoyed. “Ah, come on! Don’t call me by that name! My name is Nick! Not Nickie!”
His mother wanted a girl and had thought of a name, Nickie. Later, she gave birth to him, a boy, and named him Nick with the nickname Nickie.
Nick disliked the nickname. To make it worse, a girl in high school had the same name as him! Her nickname was also Nickie!
Nick shouted, “Elijah, stop right there! Where are you going?”
Elijah put the cigarette butt into the ashtray and said meaningfully, “The cat ran away. I’m going to catch the cat.”
In the Davis‘ mansion, Eleanor fell into a deep sleep as soon as she returned.
In the end, she was woken up by hunger. It was difficult for her to move, so she shouted to the door.
“Mom?”
“Logan?”
But no one responded. She thought her voice was too soft so Lily and Logan did not hear
her.
She raised her hand and was about to take her phone when she saw the note left by the bed.

It read, “Sweetheart, I went to a dinner party with Logan. I made some snacks for you. Eat them if you’re hungry
She opened the lunch box and took out three small cookies. In Lily’s eyes, Eleanor ate like a bird.
She finished the three cookies in two bites, but her stomach was still rumbling from hunger.
She had no choice but to grab the internal phone by the bed and call the kitchen. “Hi, ma’am, is there anything else to eat?”
“The chef is off work,” the maid said lightly and yawned, indicating she was going to sleep.
“Okay.” After hanging up, Eleanor mocked herself for making an unnecessary move.
The Davis family’s servants had never taken her seriously. Why would they make food for her in the middle of the night?
Helpless, she could only push herself up and go to the kitchen. She had just taken two steps when her feet hurt and she fell to the ground.
She subconsciously pushed her arms against the ground and bumped into the wounds cut by the tree branches.
“Hiss…” Eleanor gasped in pain, but she endured it and stood up.
Anyone hungry would have an obsession with eating something. She blew on the wounds on her forearm and limped out of the yard.
The Davis‘ mansion consisted of different courtyards interspersed with classical garden landscapes and a traditional promenade.
Even though it was late at night, the moon and stars were sparse. Under the street lamps, the scenery was as picturesque as ever.
Eleanor walked and stopped and entered the kitchen not far away.
There were many expensive ingredients in the custom–made fridge on she knew her identity well, so she only took an egg.
e entire wall, but
Just as she was about to crack the egg, the light above her head sizzled twice and went dark.
The entire kitchen fell into a dead silence. From the window behind her, the sound of the wind blowing against the curtains could be heard.
Whoosh, Whoosh

A voice traveled over. “Reflect on yourself. I’ll get the nanny to take care of Ellie.”
“Elijah, no! I’ve raised Ellie since she was born. She can’t leave me!”

“So you also know Ellie can’t live without you. Why would you hurt someone else’s child?”
“I didn’t! How many times have I told you I didnt!”
“You used your pregnancy to force me to marry you. Do you think I’ll believe your explanation? Henry is in a coma in the hospital. You’ll stay here for the next two days.”
With a bang, the door was forcefully locked, and the entire room fell into darkness.
The thin curtains rustled in the wind, like a blunt knife cutting into Eleanor’s heart.
Outside the door, Ellie was crying. “I want Mommy! I want Mommy!”
“Don’t cry!”
Hearing Ellie’s heart–wrenching cries, she compromised. “It was my fault. It was all my fault. I’ll reflect on myself! Let Ellie off! Please, I’m begging you!”
The sound continued. Eleanor smashed the egg in her hand as if it was a conditioned reflex. She covered her head and screamed, “Ah! Don’t come over…”
Suddenly, a hand pulled her trembling body over and pressed it tightly against his chest.
She instinctively hit him hard, but he only silently endured it. “It’s me.”
It was Elijah. The curtain behind him flew up, scattering moonlight. The soft light landed on his tall and cold figure.
