Chapter 8 I instinctively stroked his hair, softly comforting him: “Don’t worry, this isn’t a dream. I’m really by your side nd I won’t leave you
He nodded contentedly, holding me even tighter.
Sean had come back this time purely because he missed me.
He couldn’t resist coming to see me.
Early the next morning, he flew back abroad.
“Aria, I’ve commissioned a famous international designer to create a custom wedding dress for you. Once I wrap things up overseas, I’ll bring the beautiful dress back to marry my beautiful bride.”
The first wedding dress of my life – I had thought Ryan would be the one to give it to me.
I never imagined it would end up being Sean.
I smiled and waved goodbye to him.
Childhood friend turned fiancé.
My heart felt a special kind of sweetness.
One day as I was leaving the hotel, I saw Ryan standing in the lobby.
His clothes were disheveled, his hair unkempt. He looked lifeless.
Seeing me, his eyes lit up for a moment before quickly dimming again.
“I… I couldn’t reach you, so I had someone look up your address.”
“Did you need something?” My tone was cold.
“Aria, I know I was wrong. I was blind back then, deceived and manipulated by Chloe.”
Ryan licked his dry lips and continued hoarsely: “I saw her phone and learned a lot of truths. She conspired with the doctor to trick me, saying she had health issues but my sperm quality was good and could help her get pregnant.”
“Our marital home – she cried to me saying you and your mom were cruel to her. She was afraid of having nowhere to live after having the baby, so she begged me to transfer the house to her name. I pitied her and agreed.”
“And I only just found out that your mom favors her. She took over your room, destroyed the necklace your dad left you, and often framed you…”
I frowned in disinterest. “It’s pointless to say all this now.”
Ryan opened and closed his mouth helplessly.
“Aria, can you giv
me
one more chance? I won’t be fooled by other women again. I’ll be good to you, I promise.”
Not wanting to waste time arguing, I said directly: “My wedding will be in two days. With Sean.”
The color drained from his face. He looked like he’d been struck, his shoulders slumping.
“How is that possible? You couldn’t bear to give me up…”
“You must be lying to me! I won’t believe it!”
He started raving like a madman.
