Chapter 4
I didn’t receive any news from James, but I got a call from Kevin instead.
“Guess who I ran into in Emilyoy?”
“Kevin, I don’t care. Stop calling me from different numbers.”
As I was about to hang up. I heard the smugness suppressed in his voice:
“Emily, why do you think James has disappeared for so long? Don’t you realiza? He doesn’t want to marry you. Ha minds
that you used to chase ofter me.”
“He’s only getting close to you to get back at me. He’s not someone you can trust.”
“What are you trying to say?” I was getting a bit impatient
“Emily, at least I don’t have any other girls around me except for you, who liked me for ten years….” His tone was unusually
serious, subtly revealing his concern for me.
I sat up, raising my voice: “Kevin, you’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you?”
“Five years have passed, and you’re still so keen on driving a wedge between James and me“
“But let me tell you, no matter what, this is my choice. I’m willing to face the consequences, and I won’t turn back.”
Kevin was silent for a moment, then answered irrelevantly: “I sent you something. You’ll find it interesting.”
After hanging up, I received a video.
In the dim light, a girl and James were standing face to face.
He blew out a smoke ring, his expression as casual as ever.
Amidst the cheering, the girl stood on her tiptoes and kissed his lips,
And he didn’t pull away.
The video anded there.
I opened the girl’s social media account.
She had already updated her status: (How is this not a success?]
The accompanying picture was a photo of them kissing
I felt sick to my stomach and ran to the bathroom, dry heaving into the toilet for a long time.
Then I remembered, I hadn’t eaten all day. What could I possibly throw up?
At that moment, my stomach cramped painfully.
I dragged myself to bed, curling up into a ball despite the pain.
I closed my eyes, and the image of them kissing floated in my mind. The girl’s lips pressed against James’s, her tongue lightly teasing his lips. Her arms wrapped around his neck, pressing her entire body tightly against his, I dared not imagine further, but the images in my mind became clearer and clearer. I bit my lip, trying to suppress the pain and anger inside, as teors silently fell, soaking the pillow I curled up in the darkness, letting the heartache consume me..
Suddenly, Iremembered when James and I first became official. I wanted to see the stars from the mountaintop in the middle of the night.
Without a word, he indulged my whim and drove me up to the pook that very night
It was cool in the night air, and he held me gently, his body heat warming me. He looned down and carefully asked. “The
moonlight is so beautiful, Emily. May I kiss you?”
The moonlight fell on his face, making him look avan more gentle and charming. His eyes were full of anticipation and longing, making my heart race. I nodded slightly, and he slowly loaned in. I could feel his warm breath brushing against my cheek, bringing waves of tingling sensations. His lips gently touched mine, as soft as a feather. The kiss was light, but it made me malt. Then, his kiss began to deepen and become more passionate. He lightly licked my lips with the tip of his tongue, as if seeking more sweetness. I couldn’t help but let out a soft moon, my arms unconsciously wrapping around his neck. Our bodies pressed tightly together, as if we were about to merge into one. The moonlight poured down like water, illuminating our ontwined figures. At that moment, it seemed like the world only contained the two of us. what felt
like an eternity. James finally released me, and we rested our foreheads against each other, catching our breath. The air was filled with an ambiguous atmosphere.
There’s no going back now.
I dozed off until midnight when I heard a noise from the living room.
Cold sweat broke out on my skin, but I had no strength to get up
The next second, the bedroom light come on
The glaring light made it impossible for me to open my eyes
I heard James’s anxious voice: “Emily, what’s wrong?”
I woke up at the hospital at 7 AM
