Chapter 7
Joshua called me again after dinner.
To everyone’s surprise, this time it got through.
He finally had an outlet for his anger:
“Willow Jones!! Are you even human? You broke your promise and didn’t come home for your sister’s wedding! What the hell?! Dad and Mom are devastated. Do you think you’re so great? Is it fun to play with us?!”
There was a moment of silence.
Then, a hoarse male voice came through the phone.
“I’m her boyfriend.”
“She said that your whole family is disgusting. She won’t have anything to do with you.”
“Don’t call this number again.”
He hung up.
Joshua’s eyes widened in disbelief, and after a moment, he suddenly flew into a rage, kicked over a chair, and cursed.
But I was in no state to feel anything right now I became

completely stiff and had lost all my strength.

In the instant that voice sounded, I was forcibly dragged back into my memory for that night. That gloomy, chilling, moonless night.
Before I died, I called a taxi to go to the airport to catch my flight for Vivian’s wedding,
The driver was a young man with a pale complexion. He had at somewhat gloomy expression in his eyes that gave me chills.
He looked familiar, but my brain was so exhausted from work that I rested my head against the car window without thinking further.
At first, everything seemed to be normal.
He chatted with me like any other driver.
Suddenly, I got a call from Vivian.
As a bride–to–be, she didn’t forget to mock me even on the night before her wedding.
“Willow, I’m getting married to Ethan tomorrow and I’m feeling a bit too excited to sleep.”
“Thank you for bringing him home.” She said as sweet as honey.
I pursed my lips and spoke with anger:

“Vivian, how many more times do you have to play these dirty tricks before you get sick of it?”
She seemed completely oblivious to my scolding.
Her lone became even more cheerful and sweet.
“So, it’s settled then. You must come to the wedding tomorrow, okay?”
I hung up the phone and couldn’t help but breathe heavily, my chest rising and falling dramatically.
Suddenly, the driver spoke up, “Did you have a fight with your family?”
I furrowed my brows and looked up, only to realize that the car had been driven to a desolate wilderness during the time I had been focused on the argument with Vivian.
My heart started beating extremely fast, but I forced myself to calm down and asked him, “How much do you want?”
But it wasn’t money that he wanted.
Working overtime continuously had exhausted me, making my limbs weak and unable to escape from a young male’s strength.
He covered my mouth and dragged me into a grove.
The night wind was calm, and the starlight scattered around softly.

He squeezed my neck tightly and slapped me hard. I could taste the blood.
He said, “You slut, do you regret leaving me now?”
“How is that wealthy man better than me? Where is he now, huh?!”
“Beg for my mercy! Go on! Bark like a dog, and I’ll let you go.”
But I didn’t even know him.
Who are you?
Who are you?
Suddenly, the hand that was choking me loosened.
It changed to gently caressing my face.
“I am your love.” He said.
I had a feeling that I did have seen him somewhere.
But I just couldn’t remember where I had seen him before.
I struggled with all my strength and actually managed to reach my phone.
The shortcut key will dial the most recent call.

Three rings passed. Vivian chose to hang up without hesitation.
The man noticed what I was trying to do and cruelly laughed. before grabbing my phone into his pocket. He then proceeded to break every finger on my right hand.
In his pocket, he had a switchblade.
I felt the blade cut into my left wrist while I was still conscious and aware. I sensed that my hand was slowly pulled and sawed
off.
The tip of the knife then sliced through my cheek and tore off a bumpy piece of skin.
“Bitch, let’s see how you plan on seducing others with a face like
this.”
