Hadden was insistent that I had escaped. He even went through the surveillance footage at the pool to prove himself right.
Through the footage, he watched me struggle for my life after I was thrown into the pool… until I stopped
moving.
Despite this, Hadden still refused to believe that I was dead. Aggressively, he punched the monitor, cracking it.
“No! I don’t believe this!” he yelled, pointing at the footage. “The cameras are frozen! Felicia must’ve tampered with them. I knew it, that bitch!”
Hadden grabbed his laptop and threw it onto the ground.
Seeing the laptop break into pieces must not have been enough to vent his anger because he proceeded to grab the cup beside him and throw it at the broken laptop.
It took him a while to remember where he was. He turned to look at Julia, who seemed afraid by his outburst, and immediately apologized.
“Oh, Julia, I’m sorry. It’s alright, I’m not angry at you. It’s her I’m pissed at. How could she be so irresponsible? She hurt you! And instead of apologizing, she ran away! Don’t worry, I’ll make her apologize during your concert, okay?”
The fear in Julia’s eyes quickly turned to satisfaction as she threw herself into Hadden’s arms. “You’re so good to me, Hadden. Thank you.” Blushing, Hadden tightened his arms around her.
Anyone else would feel warmed by such a loving scene, but all I felt was disgust.
Hadden’s parents might have adopted Julia as their daughter, but I knew she had always coveted the role of Hadden’s wife. I wondered if Hadden agreed to marry me as a cover–up for his desire for Julia.
Alas, I was so excited by the promise of forever with Hadden that I ignored all the signs. I remembered boasting to my friends and family that he had made a rare post on social media when we had our wedding.
They called me a lovesick fool. I could not refute them, so I accepted the title with pride. After all, thought he was worth it.
How wrong I was.
I should have known when he told me to stay home and grieve after I lost my parents in an accident.
I should have known when he offered to take over my family’s company and supervise the daily functioning on my behalf.
He told me, “Don’t worry, Felicia. I’ll take responsibility for whatever happens at work, alright? Just stay home and rest.“–
1 was a fool to believe that he had my best interests at heart.
He just wanted to merge my company under his.

I knelt and begged him to touch my abdomen. I begged him to let me go, to have mercy on a pregnant woman, when he tied me up and threw me into the pool.
“I’m pregnant with your kid, Hadden! You can’t do this to me! You’ll kill me! You know I can’t swim, Hadden!
Yet, all I received was a frosty glare accompanied by words that chilled me to my bones.
