“And? Who cares if you die? It’s only fair after what you did to Julia! Your parents are dead anyway. So, if you die, you’ll get to reunite with them. You should be thanking me instead.”
The more I struggled and fought back, the harsher Hadden tossed me around and the colder his glare.
“You pushed Julia into the pool. So now, I’m pushing you into the pool. An eye for an eye.”
I refused, so he broke my wrist and kicked my abdomen. Then, he tossed me into the pool.
“Die, you horrible woman!”
I did not remember my last moments, but I figured I felt regretful.
I should not have agreed to marry Hadden, and I should not have allowed myself to believe that I could make him fall in love with me. He was right about one thing, though. I was dead. I should be reunited with
my parents.
Yet, I did not see them anywhere.
The next few days passed similarly, and Hadden had yet to find any leads on my whereabouts.
However, he was also busy with Julia’s concert–pre–ordering flowers, hiring backup dancers, and booking the best stadium there was.
He hired the most expensive fireworks team too, promising to give her a concert she would never forget.
It was bittersweet watching him put so much work into preparing all that, especially since it was my money he was using.
My parents left me with a huge inheritance, which he slowly took control of throughout our marriage by using all sorts of excuses.
I thought he had taken the money to make my parents‘ company stronger, but instead, he sold all the shares and invested the money into his own company.
He took my inheritance to better his business, turning himself into the next business hot topic while everyone forgot my parents‘ legacy.
My inheritance became another weapon he wielded against me.
When Julia took whatever money her adoptive parents had and fled overseas, only to immediately get married to some wealthy man’s son, my parents offered their assistance to the Rowse family, who was facing bankruptcy.
Julia only returned not too long ago after her husband cheated on her.
Hadden used to avoid Julia at every turn until he finally saw her again. His attitude toward her changed completely.
“She’s my sister. I can’t turn my back on my family.”
He sounded so kind and righteous that I believed him. What a fool I was.
Seeing as my ghost was still bound to Hadden, I spent the last few days fantasizing about how I would do

things differently if I had the chance to start over.
Those thoughts always brought the same conclusion- could not start over.
After all of Hadden’s meticulous planning, Julia’s concert was nothing short of spectacular.
She teared up when giving her ending comment.
“I want to thank my brother, Hadden, for preparing everything today. He’s my role model and the person I’m most grateful for. He has always taken such good care of me, so I want to thank him today. Thank you, Hadden.
“I also want to say something to my sister–in–law. Please don’t mistreat him anymore. Hadden is very, very kind. Please be kind to him too.”
Countless fireworks shot into the air, blooming in the night sky.
