Chapter 9
Julia quickly got up from Hadden’s body with a yelp and wrapped herself in the discarded clothes around.
Hadden also snapped to reality and stood up to straighten his clothes, only to realize that the policemen were ignoring him and making their way to the pool.
Likely remembering how he had left my body in the pool, Hadden quickly went to stop the police.
“Even if you’re the police, you have no right to just barge into my house! Which precinct are you from? I’m going to lodge a complaint against you.”
The policeman he approached said nothing, and another policeman, likely the director, walked over.
“Mr. Hadden Rowse, correct? My name is Gerard Annable. We’ve received a call accusing you of the murder of your wife, Felicia Lowe. The informant also claimed that her body was still in your pool. We’ve come to confirm if the information we received is true.
Hadden’s knees buckled. He grabbed onto the couch beside him and forced a smile.
“You must be mistaken, officers. My wife pushed my sister into the pool, so I locked her in it to teach her a lesson. But she ran away. In fact, I’m still looking for her.”
I was so happy to hear this that I could jump… No, I meant float. Ghosts could not really jump.
I had to thank whoever was kind enough to tell the police. Hadden would finally face the consequences.
I wished they would sentence him to death and execute him in the end.
Officer Annable pushed Hadden aside and made his way to the pool.
“There’s no need to worry, Mr. Rowse. We’ll leave once we find that you’re innocent.”
I floated to the pool enthusiastically, excited by the look of fear on Hadden’s face.
The pool was where my body was kept, and this was the second time I made my way back there after I
died.
The stench of my corpse must have been too horrendous as many officers began to vomit the moment they approached.
Officer Annable grabbed a mask and walked over.
Gone was the fear I felt when I first saw my body. Now, I made my way over to take a closer look at it.
I used to be a very clean woman as I cared a lot about personal hygiene. However, after so many days in the pool, my body had begun to decay. Wounds were now crawling with maggots, and even the pool was infested with them.
looked up at Officer Annable, thinking he would be afraid of the sight of my body, but he bent over to brush the maggots away and carefully moved my arm where it was supposed to lay.
Once he got rid of the maggots on me, he said, “Don’t worry, I’ll make sure justice is served.”
“Thank you!” I replied eagerly. He could not hear me, but I did not mind.

I followed Officer Annable out of the pool and back to the living room, where Hadden and Julia were handcuffed.
Julia was pale with shock while Hadden shouted, “It’s not her! It’s just a mannequin! All of you have fallen for her lies!”
None of the policemen paid him any mind. Instead, they glared at him with contempt.
Thanks to him, though, I got to experience sitting in a police car for the first time. Albeit, one used for
