Chapter 7
At that moment, Kevin’s phone rang once again.
He picked up the call, clearly in a daze. “Hello?”

A shrill female voice drifted from the other end of the line. “Kev, save me! Someone kidnapped me! The kidnapper wants you to come over right now! Hurry up and save me! There’s a bomb strapped to me right now!”
This was Violet’s voice.
Kevin was stunned at first, but he soon exited the forensic laboratory immediately. “I need a few men to save a hostage with me! Daniel has made his appearance!”
When Violet heard Kevin’s order, she quickly shot it down. “No! No way! Kev, you gotta come on your own! The kidnapper said that he’ll detonate my bomb immediately if you bring someone with you! I’m scared!”
Kevin got into his car on his own and began driving toward the address Violet told him. At the same time, the police tailed his car from a distance in order to prevent any accidents from happening.
/sat in Kevin’s car, noting the lack of expression on his face. Perhaps he was feeling very numb on the
inside as well. Maybe he still couldn’t register what just happened, so he was just carrying out his duty as a member of the police force.
Kevin stepped on the gas pedal to the maximum as he drove. He reached the address Violet had given him in just half an hour.
He could hear Violet’s screams reverberating from a distance, so he tracked her down based on the source. Soon, he opened the door of an abandoned warehouse.
Violet could be seen sitting on a chair with a bomb strapped to her
Behind her stood Daniel.
Daniel grinned from ear to ear the moment he saw Kevin. “That woman from before really was useless! It turns out that you care about this woman a lot more!”
Kevin gazed at Daniel with mixed feelings. “Did you kill Michelle?”
Daniel nodded. “Yeah, I did. That woman really was an idiot for telling you to not come here. When I heard the way you spoke to her over the phone, I knew right away that you never loved her.
“In that case, why would I keep her around? So I might as well set the bomb off and kill her.”
Then, Daniel looked at Kevin. “Now that I think about it, you’re the actual culprit who killed that woman.”
Kevin staggered on the spot, his complexion turning pale.
“Why did you do that? Did you know that she was pregnant with my child?”
Daniel looked even more smug. “It’s to get revenge on you, of course! I didn’t expect to receive such a nice tidbit about the pregnancy part! Had I known about it, I’d have tortured her a little longer!
But then again, it doesn’t matter. You don’t love her anyway.”
As Daniel spoke, he placed a hand on Violet’s shoulder “If I’m not mistaken, this is the woman you truly love. Well then, have fun watching her getting blown up!”

Chapter 7
Violet shrieked at the top of her lungs. “Save me, Kev! Hurry up and kill that maniac before defusing the bomb! I don’t wanna die!”
Kevin just stared at Daniel numbly. “Let me trade places with Violet. She’s innocent. You can strap the bomb to me instead.”
Daniel continued to grin. “I knew it! You really love her! To think that you’re willing to die just to save her!
“But then again, I won’t let her go. You won’t be able to escape from your doom either. My bomb’s extremely powerful, you know? It can decimate the entire warehouse in an instant!”
Violet kept screaming. “Are you insane? That means you won’t be able to survive as well!”
Daniel exclaimed, “I never planned to survive from the start! Kevin’s the reason why my life is ruined! I want him to die with me no matter what!”
At that moment, Kevin rushed up to Daniel and began beating him up by punching him repeatedly. He might be a forensic doctor, but he hung out with police officers all year round and picked up some moves from them.
Naturally, Daniel’s strength paled in comparison to Kevin’s. It didn’t take long for him to start vomiting blood.
